‘ELITE’, THE NEW TEEN DRAMA ON NETFLIX
Elite is a Spanish teen drama series written and created by Carlos Montero and Darío Madrona for Netflix. The first season was released on 5th October 2018 which consists of eight episodes in total. The story revolves around the lives of few teenage students who study at one of the best schools in Spain, known as Las Encinas.
SUMMARY OF SEASON 1
The series shows a clash between rich and poor when three working class students get enrolled into a school where only the children of elites are sent to study. In the first episode a detective is shown questioning a minor named Samuel regarding the murder of his classmate Marina. The whole series then cuts between scenes before the murder and current police interrogations with classmates to find out who did it. The clash between the transferred students and the wealthy students results in the murder of a girl named Marina. The season finale is quite surprising as it unravels the murder mystery. The murderer is someone who might never be in the viewers suspicion.
SOCIAL PROBLEMS THAT THE SERIES ADDRESSES ARE:
The storyline also includes topics like homosexuality, classism and restrictions put forth by conservative Muslim families. It typically addresses the problems that teenagers face in today’s modern era. The necessity to fit in is shown so precisely that many teenagers will be able to relate themselves to the various characters in the series.
NETFLIX ‘ELITE’ SEASON 2 UPDATES:
Netflix has announced that Elite will be back with Season 2 in 2019 but the exact date is yet to be confirmed. The fans are left with a bunch of questions after season 1 which is believed to be answered in the coming season.
