Narcos
Narcos tells the story of Pablo Escobar, and the DEA agents that worked to bust him. It features fantastic characters, and intense situations. The two seasons on netflix are packed with enough drama to last, and has been renewed for a third season. This is definitely one to keep your eyes on.
Twin Peaks
Twin Peaks is one of the the stranger titles from this list. The cult classic, directed by David Lynch, follows the investigation of Laura Palmer’s murder in the small town of Twin Peaks. The series begins as a murder-mystery, and progresses down the surreal rabbit hole, as more and more of Lynch’s influence becomes evident. The result is a gripping and addictive story that will definitely leave you scratching your head.
If you don’t feel like going out and enjoying the sun this summer don’t worry. Just grab a snack and your computer and there’s nothing else you really need to have a great summer.
Black Mirror
Black Mirror is a British show, so it follows their series format. Each season only has a few episodes, but all of them are great. Each episode is a standalone story that takes place in an alternative time frame. It highlights ways that technology influences people’s lives in these alternate realities. It creates some great questions that will really make you think about our lives and the future.
An Idiot Abroad
This British travel show features Karl Pilkington, one of the most memorable personalities on television. The show itself is an elaborate prank set up by Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant (from the British version of The Office) to send a begrudging Karl around the world to see the Seven Wonders. Karl is generally close minded person, and moans about anything outside of his comfort space. Gervais and Merchant intentionally put him in uncomfortable situations for the viewer’s pleasure, and his reactions are hilarious. Besides that, though, it’s formatted as a travel diary so if you’re a fan of travel shows, this one will scratch that itch.
Arrested Development
This sitcom from the early 2000s has a great cast that work well together. Michael Bluth, played by Jason Bateman, has been thrust into the role of head of family. Unfortunately for him, his family is wildly dysfunctional. He has to do his best to set their business on track, while also maintaining peace in the Bluth household.
